Don’t let these disgusting growths damage your investment in your deck, or get in the way of your summer fun. Wet & Forget Outdoor zaps messy growths on any type of deck with no scrubbing or power washing needed, and keeps them away for a year or more in most cases.
Read on to find out how Wet & Forget Outdoor can make your deck cleaner and ready for summer than the competitors!
Here are the stains that can stand in the way of your fun on the family deck, and how to defeat them with Wet & Forget Outdoor:
Algae
Algae is a simple plant that can severely discolor your deck. It can also create a very slippery surface that is dangerous for your family to walk on.
Green algae grows best in partially shaded areas, while black algae can grow even in direct sunlight. Removing algae with bleach or power washing it will make it grow back almost immediately.
Wet & Forget Outdoor not only removes algae- it keeps algae from coming back for a year or more in most cases.
Many customers who had fought a losing battle with algae for years have written in to tell us that just one yearly treatment with Wet & Forget Outdoor has kept their outdoor surfaces completely algae-free.
No matter which type of algae is plaguing your deck, Wet & Forget Outdoor will solve the problem and let you get back to enjoying your deck!
Mold and Mildew
“Mold and mildew” are words we use to talk about fungal growth that thrives in damp areas and can be very hard to get rid of. On your deck, mold and mildew are most likely to grow in shaded areas or on outdoor furniture cushions.
Mold and mildew attack those stylish, comfy cushions you bought, and transforms them into a stained, smelly mess. Bleach will bleach out the cushions and can damage the fabric, and will irritate the skin.
Wet & Forget Outdoor will take care of any mold and mildew on your deck or outdoor furniture cushions without discoloring or harming the fabric, and without compromising your deck’s surface. Better yet, you won’t need any elbow grease to say goodbye to that mold and mildew!
Moss
Moss is a green, fuzzy simple plant that grows on many surfaces, from roofs to brick to concrete. It can also invade your deck, where its root-like structures can dig in and cause damage to wood.
Wet & Forget Outdoor kills moss and causes the root-like structures to release their grip on your deck so that the rain or a gentle brushing can safely remove the moss.
Lichen
Lichen is a multi-layered growth that can grow on just about any surface, including your deck. It comes in a wide array of colors, but its scaly texture makes it easy to recognize.
Lichen on your deck not only looks bad, but it can also cause ugly pitting in many types of decking, including wood. Don’t let this growth mar your deck!
Annihilate lichen and keep it from coming back for a year or more with Wet & Forget Outdoor.

Sandy W.
I definitely need to use Wet and Forget, and will for sure. However when I do my deck needs restaining also or painted. Currently I have stain on it, but hasn’t been treated for at least 5 yrs. So what do I need to do to restain it so it will take the new stain. Or I would like to paint it also. What needs to be done to prep it for painting?
Wet And Forget
Hi Sandy,
You would want to apply Wet & Forget first before you paint or stain. Once your surface is as clean as it’s going to get and all the growth has been removed, you’re fine to paint or apply a stain. You may have some dirt on the surface still and to remove this soap, water, and a brush will go a long way. If you have a power washer, feel free to apply Wet & Forget give it a week or two to start breaking down the growth and then hit it with a light pressure washing to finish up the entire job. Thanks for asking.

iput wet and for get on my deck yesterday afternoon and evening and it has puddled in some places–can I rinse it off?
Carol
Should I power wash the deck first and then apply Wet I & Forget It. I have a water seal on it now will I have to reseal the wood again before or after using your product? I’m confused as to rather or not I need to waterproof the deck again.
Wet And Forget
Hi Carol,
Wet & Forget is going to clean up all the green and black stains that are on your deck. The product is designed to where all you have to do is apply and let the wind and the rain gently clean the surface over time.
To remove the stains, power washing or scrubbing are not required. If you’d like, spray the surface with Wet & Forget and leave it and let it start breaking the growth down for a week or so and then if you’d like, hit the surface with a light pressure washing to speed up the process.
Once your deck is clean, feel free to apply a seal but know that because water will not be able to reach Wet & Forget, it will not be able to clean your surface any more. Most customers apply Wet & Forget once a year as it will keep the surface clean for the entire year. Thanks for asking.

I have power washed my deck – should I apply wet and forget before applying a clear water proofing sealant water? Or should I apply the sealant first then Wet and forget?
I’m confused
Wet And Forget
Hi Gretchen,
If your deck is as clean as it’s going to get and the power washing has taken all the mold and algae off, then go ahead and seal and at the first sign of growth apply Wet & Forget to remove it and keep the surface clean. If you apply a sealer over Wet & Forget water won’t be able to reach the product so it will not be able to clean the surface. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Is this product safe for young children to be around? I would like to use it on my railings around my front and back porches, but am concerned about the safety since it is not washed off and their little hand may touch it
Wet And Forget
Hi Sue,
Wet & Forget is safe to use on your railings. During the application while the surface is still wet, you want to keep people and pets off the surface or not touching the railings, though once it’s completely dry you’re fine to be on the surface or use the railings. Thanks for commenting.

Few questions:
Do I have to remove the furniture from my patio?
Will the product ruin the paint or finish on my metal patio furniture?
I had a fence put in that was never sealed – can I use this product on that fence?
Wet And Forget
Hi Jackie,
If you’re applying to your patio you would want to apply to the entire surface so you may need to temporarily remove the furniture to achieve that. Wet & Forget will not harm paint or the finish on your metal patio furniture. You are fine to use Wet & Forget to clean your fence. Let me know if you have any other questions.
