Celebrate Spring with Wet & Forget Outdoor!

Today is the first day of spring and the official beginning of the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. Even if you’re in one of the areas where spring seems to be arriving late this year (we feel your pain!), you can still get into the spirit of the season. Wet & Forget Outdoor will help you make all of your outdoor surfaces clean of green and black algae, mold, mildew, and more. Before you know it, the surfaces will shine, and you will be ready to invite friends over to grill when summer arrives.

Read on to see 5 ways Wet & Forget Outdoor can spruce up your outdoor spaces and help you start the spring season the right way!

1. Moss on Your Roof

Moss on your roof is ugly, but that’s not all. This creeping growth can damage your roof enough to cause leaks, leading to expensive water damage in your home.

Moss damages your roof by growing under the shingles’ edges and causing them to lift away from the roof, and its root-like structures can dig into the surface of shingles, causing pitting and loss of shingle granules.

You don’t need corrosive chemicals or a power washer to protect your roof from moss. Apply Wet & Forget Outdoor to your roof to stop moss in its tracks and keep it from coming back for a year or more in most cases.

Just spray and walk away, and let Wet & Forget do the work for you! Wet & Forget Outdoor will also free your roof from lichen, algae, mold and mildew.

2. Algae or Moss on Your Driveway

Spring or early summer are good times to seal coat your asphalt driveway, but growths like algae, lichen, moss, mold or mildew will keep the seal coat from adhering properly. And algae, mold or mildew on any driveway can cause it to become very slippery, posing a risk to anyone who walks across its surface.

Moss can also be a big problem on your driveway. Tom in Washington State wrote to us on Facebook about how Wet & Forget Outdoor ended his struggles with moss on his driveway pavers:

“I can visibly see the difference in my pavers from last year. I was scraping moss between them last spring, and the year before, I hired someone to clean the moss from them. This year, no green moss at all where the pavers are shadowed by shrubs and no tedious scraping for me around each paver with scissor blades! I made only two applications of Wet and Forget, one in late Spring and one in early Fall. I don’t own a power washer.”

We’re glad to hear it, Tom! Now you can save your scissors for cutting and go boating or hiking instead of spending your valuable time scraping moss.

Wet & Forget Outdoor will also end your driveway’s lichen, mold, or mildew.

3. Black Algae and Mold Stains on Your Sidewalk

If your driveway has black streaks or splotches, it’s probably due to black algae.

Black algae is the same culprit to blame for those black streaks you see on so many roofs. Its dark-colored capsule protects this ugly growth from the sun’s rays, allowing it to grow in areas that would be too sunny for green algae.

The dark color makes black algae so ugly and difficult to remove. Even caustic chemicals such as bleach have difficulty removing this nasty stain, and the black algae starts growing again immediately after you clean your sidewalk using most cleaning methods.

Wet & Forget Outdoor annihilates black algae without the need for scrubbing or harsh chemicals and keeps it from coming back for a year or more in most cases. Wet & Forget works with the wind and rain to remove black algae over time, and your patience pays off with a beautifully clean sidewalk!

Just look at this fantastic aerial photo above, taken by Google Earth. Can you guess which family treated their concrete with Wet & Forget Outdoor?

4. Green and Black Algae, Mold and Mildew on Your Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding protects and beautifies your home, but it doesn’t look so beautiful if it is covered with slimy algae, mold, and mildew. These disgusting growths deface your siding and can be challenging to remove with bleach or power washing.

Algae also grows back quickly after power washing or treatment with bleach, putting you in an exhausting cycle of cleaning again and again.

Apply Wet & Forget Outdoor to your vinyl siding to break free from this cycle. Wet & Forget zaps algae, mold and mildew from your vinyl siding with no scrubbing and often with only one application.

Simply spray and forget about it! Wet & Forget also keeps your vinyl siding algae-free for a year or more in most cases, leaving you free to relax and spend time with your family. You have much better things to do than scrubbing your siding!

Let Wet & Forget do the work for you.

5. Lichen on Your Bricks

Lichen is a scaly growth that can be nearly any color, from gray to bright yellow or green. It grows on every continent and can grow on just about any outdoor surface, even glass!

Lichen is stubborn and difficult to remove and can spread to cover brick walls, walkways, and other outdoor surfaces.

Lichen can also cause etching on the surfaces it grows on, permanently damaging its appearance.

Keep your bricks lichen-free with Wet & Forget Outdoor. To kill the lichen’s multiple layers, saturate the lichen with a solution of 1 part Wet & Forget Outdoor and 5 parts water, allow 15 to 20 minutes for the Wet & Forget to penetrate the lichen, and apply the solution a second time.

Let Wet & Forget do the work for you, and say goodbye to lichen!

To Apply:

  1. For medium size surfaces such as retaining walls or sidewalks, mix 1 part Wet & Forget Outdoor Concentrate with 5 parts water in a pump-up garden sprayer. For large surfaces such as roofs or driveways, attach the Wet & Forget Xtreme Reach™ Hose End product to your garden hose and connect the sprayer tip of your choice. (To reach high elevations, use the Jet Setting tip. For large flat surfaces, use the Fan Setting tip.)
  2. Spray the solution on the affected area at a time when the area is dry and free of snow. Allow 4 to 5 hours of drying time before the threat of rain.
  3. Let Wet & Forget do the work for you, and get back to your life!
