3 Inexpensive Home Improvement Tips You Can’t Afford to Miss
Are you looking to freshen up your home’s look before hot weather gets here and still have money left over for summer fun? Here are three inexpensive home improvement tips to achieve a fresh look for three different areas of your home.
1. Revamp Kitchen Cabinets
Painting or refinishing your solid-wood kitchen cabinets and adding new hardware will completely change the look of your cabinets without the huge cost and trouble involved in buying replacement cabinets. Painting can give your cabinets a dramatically different look in exchange for some elbow grease and relatively little money.
The prep-work is straightforward: Empty the cabinets, remove the hardware, clean and lightly sand the surfaces you will be painting, protect the countertop and other areas from paint splatter, and you are good to go. Use the same technique to transform wood furniture, like that dresser you’ve had since college.
2. Stir Things Up with Fresh Paint
Painting is an inexpensive way to change the look of any room. You can change the room’s color palette or add an accent wall to keep the same color scheme while adding flair.
Even just painting the ceiling can seriously brighten up a room, especially if your ceiling is white and hasn’t seen a fresh coat in a few years. You can get a quality gallon of interior paint for around $30, covering about 300 to 400 square feet.
Many websites have paint calculators to help determine how much you will need to buy. One coat of good-quality paint is often sufficient. Use additional coats if you cover a dark color or use a dramatic color.
Use good painting practices to make your room’s transformation as easy and mess-free as possible.
3. Clean Up Outdoors with Wet & Forget
With warmer weather on its way, we are all looking forward to enjoying the outdoors. But algae, moss, mold, and mildew on outdoor surfaces such as the roof, deck, awning, or side of the house isn’t nice to look at, and algae on walking surfaces such as patios or stepping-stones can cause a slip hazard for you and your guests.
Spray Wet & Forget on outdoor surfaces for an inexpensive, easy, environmentally-friendly way to make your outdoor surroundings more beautiful and summer party-ready. Also, use Wet & Forget to remove mildew from lawn furniture to prepare for summer barbecues.

I saw the product, Wet & Forget a few years ago at my local Costco. My patio furniture and planters were looking a little “mildewy”. In the past I would throw the chaise cushions in the pool hoping that the chlorine would take care of the mildew, but hated to retrieve them when they were waterlogged. I tried Wet & Forget ans not only did it work on the cushions, but i was so happy with the results I began using it everywhere. The actual chaise chair net fabric, the planters, the patio pavers…I even brought some to a friend to try on her patio deck. I believe in the product so much I have even bought an given it to friends as presents! Thank you for a great product that is as easy to apply and dependable as it’s name!!!
