Wet & Forget Backyard Summer Eats and Drinks
It’s hard to believe, but we’re already into the third week of the Wet & Forget Great Backyard Giveaway. Good luck to all who’ve had a chance to enter. We have some excellent summer eats recipes to share with you this week!
DRINK OF THE WEEK
Mojitos
Requires: mint, sugar, lime, rum, 7Up, ice
A Cuban Mojito will hit the spot if you’re looking for a refreshing drink. This light drink is a nice mix of refreshing citrus and mint with a hint of rum that will quench your thirst even on the warmest summer days.
- Put a liberal amount of fresh mint in the bottom of your glass.
- Add 2 teaspoons of sugar and grind the mint and sugar together with a muddler; bruise the leaves to bring out the oils. Be careful not to shred the leaves.
- Squeeze 1 fresh lime and add the juice to your glass.
- Add 1 shot or 1.5 oz. of Captain Morgan spiced rum.
- Mix in 2/3 can of cold 7Up and stir.
- Add 1/2 of a lime and 6 ice cubes.

FROM THE GRILL
Summer Shrimp
Requires: lemon juice, olive oil, paprika, salt, pepper, basil, garlic cloves, red pepper flakes, deveined jumbo shrimp
- Mix 1/3 c. extra virgin olive oil, 1/4 c. lemon juice, 1 tsp. Paprika, 1/4 tsp. Pepper, 1/2 tsp. Salt, 1 tsp. Red pepper flakes, 3 cloves of garlic, 2 tsp. Chopped fresh basil.
- Add 2 lbs. of shell-on deveined jumbo shrimp to a plastic bag and add the mixture from step 1. Let this sit in the fridge for the next 6 hours.
- Cook shrimp on grill over medium heat until the shrimp are pink. The inside of the shrimp should no longer be transparent.
- Serve immediately. Goes well with fresh peppers and pineapple.
