4 Succulent Centerpieces for Your Thanksgiving Table
Thanksgiving succulent centerpieces are the newest trend. Impress your guests this Thanksgiving with a beautiful, handcrafted centerpiece made of succulents.
Succulent Cornucopia
Cornucopias have been used as a Thanksgiving centerpiece for many generations. Change things up this year by creating a succulent cornucopia to modernize this centerpiece for your Thanksgiving tablescape with the steps below.
First, place a small plastic bag inside the wicker cornucopia. It will serve as a liner to keep moss bits from falling through container openings.
Fill the cornucopia with sphagnum moss and then arrange succulents inside. Add gourds, dried seedpods, and other accents. Keep the moss slightly damp, and your centerpiece will stay fresh for several weeks.
For a farmhouse look, paint the cornucopia white. Use light or neutral-colored succulents and other natural items as a filler.

Mini Succulent Pumpkins
Your guests will love these cute DIY succulent-topped pumpkins decorating the harvest table.
What You’ll Need
- Mini pumpkins
- Natural moss
- Clipping shears
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- A variety of small succulents
First, clean your pumpkin. Pull small amounts of long-strand sphagnum moss. Shake moss to remove shedding.
Did You Know? Hot glue is safe to use on live succulents. The thick succulent skin protects the plant from the hot glue. Additionally, the succulents will root through the glue without a problem.
How To Arrange Your Succulents In Your Pumpkin:
- Choose one succulent to be the main focal point. Set it in the center and arrange other plants around it.
- Before using glue, move plants around until you are happy with the arrangement.
- Place succulents close together with little to no space between each one.
- Turn your pumpkin as you work so the finished design will look good from all sides.
Bonus idea: Design pumpkin place cards by printing guests’ names on color card stock. Print out, trim with scissors, and glue card backs to wood toothpicks. Poke toothpicks into moss.

Which succulents look best when combined in a centerpiece?
Consider your design when combining succulents. Do you wish to combine succulents based on the shape, color, or plant height? Another consideration is moisture needs. All plants in the arrangement should have a similar watering schedule.
Keep color in mind when combining succulents. Pair succulents in complementary colors such as:
- Red and green
- Blue and orange
- Purple and yellow
Plants in complementary shades make an eye-catching table display.
When pairing succulents, consider each plant’s care requirements. You’ll have a happy and healthy autumn arrangement to enjoy throughout the holiday season.
