Top 4 No-Sew Christmas Tree Skirt Ideas
Is it time for a Christmas tree restyle? Does your tree skirt look worn or old-fashioned? See our Christmas tree skirt patterns and how-tos to upgrade your holiday evergreen.
DIY Christmas Tree Basket Stand
A large basket covers a tree stand to make a super-easy Christmas ‘skirt’ in no time!
Choose a large basket with a wide bottom. The bottom of the basket should be wider than the width of the tree stand. Before basket shopping, measure the width of your tree stand and write it down. Also, take a tape measure with you so you can measure baskets while you shop.
Place your new basket on the floor and place the tree in the stand inside the basket.
Using a basket as a tree stand or skirt will complement farmhouse, country, or rustic-styled interiors. After the holidays, the basket does double duty as storage for Christmas décor or home essentials.
Bonus Tip: Set up your basket and tree stand before you decorate the tree.
Faux Fur Christmas Tree Skirt Pattern
Add glam to your holiday with this designer-inspired faux fur tree skirt. Perfect for modern, boho, or eclectic décor styles, this eye-catching, no-sew tree skirt will turn heads!
What You’ll Need
- Faux fur fabric
- Scissors
- Fabric marker
- Ruler
Step 1
Use the folding method to cut a circle from the fabric.
- Draw a square on the back of the fabric with a fabric marker. Size the square to be, at minimum, the bottom width of your tree.
- Fold the square in half to make a rectangle. Fold the fabric again to make a square.
- Use your ruler to measure and sketch a curve equal to 1/4 of a circle. Measure from the folded point and across the fabric to the outer edge.
- With scissors, cut through the fabric layers along the curved line. When you unfold the fabric, you should have a circle.
Step 2
To cut a center hole to accommodate the tree trunk and stand. Fold the fabric in half. Place a round soup can or round container on the material, halfway across the middle point of the fold, and trace a half-circle. Cut fabric to make a center hole.
Step 3
Leaving the fabric still folded, cut a fold open on one side. The opening will allow you to fit the skirt around the tree.
Step 4
Take your tree skirt outside and give it a shake to remove loose bits of fur.
Bonus Tip: To keep as much fur as possible when cutting the fabric, cut slowly and make small cuts. Keep the bottom scissor blade as close to the fabric backing as possible.
